Our Editorial Standards

At Nutrient Flow Habits, we are committed to delivering accurate, evidence-based information about food, nutrition, and everyday wellness practices. Our editorial standards ensure that every article published on our platform meets rigorous criteria for truthfulness, clarity, and reader value.

Transparency and integrity are the foundation of our work. We believe our readers deserve content they can trust.

Five Core Editorial Principles

Accuracy First

Every factual claim in our articles is verified against peer-reviewed scientific literature, reputable institutional sources, and expert consensus. We distinguish between established facts, current research, and open questions. When information is incomplete or evolving, we say so explicitly. Our writers cross-reference multiple credible sources before publication, and our editorial team conducts final fact-checking on all content.

Clarity Over Complexity

We translate scientific findings into language that everyday readers can understand—without oversimplifying. Complex topics are broken down into logical sections. We avoid jargon, or explain it when necessary. Our goal is to educate, not to impress. Articles include practical takeaways that readers can apply to their own food choices and daily routines.

Balance and Nuance

We present multiple perspectives on debated topics. If there is scientific disagreement, we acknowledge it. We avoid absolutist language like "always" or "never" when research shows variability. We recognize that nutrition and wellness are individual—what works for one person may not work for another. We highlight context, limitations, and areas where more research is needed.

Independence and Disclosure

Our editorial decisions are made independently of commercial interests. We do not write content to promote brands or products. When we discuss food items, supplement types, or practices, we do so objectively based on research—not endorsement. Any potential conflicts of interest are disclosed transparently to our readers. We maintain strict separation between editorial content and any external partnerships.

Accountability and Correction

We take responsibility for what we publish. When errors are discovered—whether factual, scientific, or typographical—we correct them promptly and clearly. Corrections are dated and noted at the end of the article so readers know what changed and when. We welcome feedback from readers and experts, and we respond to substantive corrections seriously. Our readers' trust depends on our willingness to get it right and fix it when we don't.

Our Fact-Checking Process

1

Research & Source Verification

Every article begins with research in peer-reviewed scientific databases, institutional publications, and expert consensus statements. Writers document their sources and cross-reference findings across multiple credible authorities. We prioritize recent meta-analyses, systematic reviews, and established guidelines from health organizations over isolated studies.

2

Internal Editorial Review

Before publication, each article is reviewed by at least one senior editor. This review checks for factual accuracy, clarity, appropriate tone, balanced presentation, and alignment with our editorial standards. The reviewer reads all citations and confirms that quoted claims match the source material.

3

Specialized Expert Consultation

For articles covering complex or specialized topics, we consult with subject-matter experts (research scientists, registered nutritionists, or other qualified professionals) who review the content for accuracy and appropriateness. Their feedback is incorporated before the article goes live. These experts are acknowledged in the article.

4

Post-Publication Monitoring

After publication, we monitor reader feedback and scientific developments. If new research contradicts published content, or if a reader reports an error, our team investigates and updates the article if necessary. All updates are logged and dated so readers can track what changed and why.

Correction & Update Policy

How We Classify Changes

Factual Corrections

Errors in facts, statistics, citations, or scientific claims. These are corrected immediately and marked with a correction notice.

Substantive Updates

New scientific findings that change the article's main message or recommendations. The article is updated and an update notice explains what changed and why.

Minor Edits

Typos, grammar fixes, clarity improvements, or formatting changes that do not alter meaning. These are made silently unless they significantly change the article.

How Corrections Appear

All factual corrections and substantive updates are noted at the end of the article in a clearly labeled section:

Corrections & Updates

Updated [Date]: [Description of change]. This reflects [new research/reader feedback/editorial review].

The date of the original publication and the date of any updates are always visible at the top of the article so readers know how current the information is.

Reader Feedback & Error Reporting

If you notice an error or have questions about an article, please contact us at [email protected]. Include the article title, the specific claim or passage you're questioning, and your source information. Our editorial team will review your feedback and respond within one week. If your correction is valid, we will update the article and acknowledge your contribution (if you wish to be credited).

When We Remove or Retire Content

In rare cases, if an article contains fundamental errors that cannot be adequately corrected, or if scientific consensus has shifted dramatically, we may retire the article. We do not delete it silently. Instead, we replace the article with a notice explaining why it has been retired and directing readers to updated resources. This maintains transparency and prevents the spread of outdated information.

Author Credentials & Expertise

All writers and contributors at Nutrient Flow Habits are identified by name and role. Each author's relevant qualifications and expertise are disclosed. We feature articles from:

  • Registered Nutrition Specialists & Dietitians: Professionals with formal training and current certifications in nutrition science and dietary assessment.
  • Published Researchers: Scientists with peer-reviewed publications in food science, nutrition, and health-related fields.
  • Health Journalists: Writers with formal training in science communication and a track record of accurate reporting on nutrition and wellness topics.
  • Subject-Matter Experts: Professionals with specialized knowledge in specific areas (e.g., food safety, sustainable agriculture, fermentation) who contribute guest articles or expert perspectives.

Every author profile includes a brief biography, their relevant credentials, and their area of expertise. This allows readers to assess the author's qualifications and understand the perspective from which they are writing. If an author has a conflict of interest related to the topic (e.g., employment by a food company, ownership interest in a supplement brand), this is disclosed transparently.
